JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Burt: ANY either if you were working or going to
classes Daniel: We were either playing card games, dominoes,
reading books, or going out to the rec yard. David: We got to go outside twice a day. They had
basketaball, they had a track, they had some
weights.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Burt: i personally had a radio as entertainment but
you had to have radio to tune n on tv stations
to hear the tv Daniel: Um, there were 2 tv's in every block, but I
personally played poker of dominoes most of the time. David: They had tv in dorm that would stay on until 11pm
when rec was over. We voted on what we wanted to
watch. Sometimes there would be a guy who tried
to run the tv but that didn't happen all the
time.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Burt: i did bc all i would do is make spreads and sleep Daniel: No, cause there's no excuse. I had time to do
whatever, and I was in the best shape of my life. David: No. I pretty much went outside everyday for
exercise.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Burt: 1 time a day Daniel: For like 2 hours a day, unless you were on lockdown. David: All the time, twice a day.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Burt: yes, but never went Daniel: Yes, but I never went. I think they held them on
like Sundays, not sure. David: They had church durng week and three or four
differenct service on Sunday. It was held in the
cafeteria. It was nice. That had a choir and
music from the inmates.
